Dream Catcher by Evolution

Back in 2017 Evolution Gaming decided it was time for a new, exciting live casino game. After years of presenting classic casino games like roulette and blackjack, they decide to aim for slot players. They want them in their live casino. How can you make those players enthusiastic for a live casino game? Simple, they introduced Dream Catcher.

Let’s take a huge money wheel, place it in a live studio and let a beautiful host give it a spin. That must have been the idea. After some more brainstorm sessions, they let  TCSJOHNHUXLEY design and built a precision-engineered bespoke wheel. A new game was born!

 What is Dream Catcher?

Dream Catcher is a game of chance played using a super-sized, vertically mounted spinning wheel. The spinning wheel is just like a wheel of fortune you see in land-based casinos. Evolution’s Dream Catcher is a unique offering to welcome slot players to the world of Live Casino. But this wheel is different from the money wheels you already know.

This wheel features 2x and 7x payout multipliers and a fully immersive gaming experience for maximum excitement and player engagement. The most exciting part is that there is the potential to multiply wins many times over if the wheel stops on a multiplier segment on successive spins.

If the wheel stops on a 2x or 7x bonus spin multiplier, all bets stay in place. Then for the next winning number, the payout is multiplied twice or seven times over.

 How to Play Dream Catcher

On the big wheel, there are 54 segments. The segments are separated by pins. 52 of the segments are marked with a number (1, 2, 5, 10, 20, or 40), with a unique color for each number. That leaves two more segments. Those are special. These two are colored silver and gold. The silver segment is a 2x multiplier, the gold one a 7x multiplier.

All the players need to do is bet on the number at which they think the wheel will stop. The numbers appear in the User Interface on a correspondingly colored betting grid that appears in front of the wheel and dealer. The payout odds are easy to remember as they match the numbers: e.g. a winning bet on 5 pays 5 to 1, 10 pays 10 to 1, and so on.

  Live Dealer

The live dealer spins the wheel. When the wheel comes to a stop, a pointer at the top of the wheel indicates the winning segment. The dividing pins on the spinning wheel brush against
the leather that’s at the end of the pointer. This friction slows the wheel to a halt.

Before the live dealer spins the wheel, the players have the chance to place their bets. There is a possibility to enable autoplay. Then the computer will place every round the same bets automatically. It’s also possible to bet all the options. Players click on “BET ON ALL”, that’s all it takes.

  The Rules of Dream Catcher

  • Players simply bet on the number they think the wheel will stop at 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, or 40.
  • Payout odds correspond to the winning number: e.g. 5 pays 5 to 1, 10 pays 10 to 1, and so on.
  • There are two ‘MULTIPLIER’ positions on the wheel (2x and 7x) that act as bonus spins and multiply the next win.

If the wheel stops on a multiplier segment, then all bets remain in place. It’s not possible to place new bets. The dealer gives a new spin to the wheel. The outcome of the next spin (1, 2, 5, 10, 20, or 40) will determine the winning wager as usual, but the odds will be multiplied by 2x or 7x. If the wheel stops on a multiplier again, then all bets remain in place, and the multiplied payout from the last spin is multiplied again.

Consecutive multipliers are unlimited subject to a default maximum win of €500,000 or to a maximum set by the licensee.
