Plunder Great Treasure in Crabby’s Gold

Crabby’s Gold video slot logo

Play’n GO has set sail once more, bringing us a fun slot from the pirates and treasure hunters era. Crabby’s Gold seems like your run-of-the-mill pirate game at first, until you meet the crab the slot is named after. Our shellfish friend has his claws full of treasure and no intention to share. Something that other pirates on the island are about to find out the hard way!

The theme is excellent, but is the rest of the game as enticing? Find out more about this by reading our review of the Crabby’s Gold slot.

Claw In the Loot

We love the graphics in Play’n GO releases. Crabby’s Gold continues the trend of gorgeous video slots, with a detailed backdrop immersing you in the pirate fantasy. It shows a far-away tropical island where the pirates have stashed their gold and rum. A ship is docked nearby, likely here to pick up their loot. The background is beautifully animated, with waves crashing on the shore and coconuts falling off trees and splashing into the water.

The paying symbols are playing card royals and several pirates. Other notable icons include coin pouch Scatters, coins, rum bottles, and crab Wilds.

Make Off Like a Bandit

The game uses a 5×4 grid with 4,096 ways to win instead of regular paylines. Winning requires landing matching symbols in adjacent positions and starting with the leftmost reel.

Coins can appear anywhere on the reels, displaying rewards ranging from 0.5x to 25x. If a coin pouch Scatter appears simultaneously, it collects these prizes and adds them to your total. If a coin pouch is not present, the coins are collected by the treasure chest.

Each time a coin is added to the treasure chest, it has a chance to trigger the Hold’n Spin feature. While active, only coins and blank spaces can appear on the reels. All coins land on their back face, flipping to reveal their attached rewards at the end of the feature. They also remain in place until the bonus finishes. Players start with 3 re-spins, with the number resetting whenever a new coin lands.

At the end of Hold’n Spin, you have two options. You can take the cash prize you’ve earned or gamble to try and double your wins. However, losing means a total loss of your Hold’n Spin winnings.

Last but not least are Wilds, which only appear once enough rum bottles are collected. There are five stages of Wilds, with each one adding multipliers, re-spins, and expanding the Wild’s size.
